Donald Trump isn't Jesus. But he is Donald Trump.
I was talking to an extremely high placed, well-connected contact today. This individual was concerned with parts and details of the incoming administration. Things that were accurate as well as things that not many people knew about. After quite a while discussing these concerns, which are valid, I said this.
Look at President Trump and his incoming team with a wide angled lense. Set your concern or disappointment meter at around eighty percent. Yeah. Eighty. He is human. His administration is made up of humans, mostly. (I think Bondi may be A.I.) There will be ample to cheer for, but don't ever let your guard down. Be Trump's biggest critic, even though you may love the guy. Keep him and his administration honest. Stay involved. But also use some grace and common sense.
Trump is wading back into familiar territory. Except this time he knows where all the roaches live and most of who it is that gives them their orders that fought so hard to undermine his first presidency. The fight is on and has been since 2016. I believe most of the fundamentals of his goals are following not only constitutional guidelines but also simple common sense. We can and must support him while at the same time feel free to Monday morning quarterback his decisions. It's what we do. It's what we must do. Our opinions count. At the end of the day, he can't discount or ignore them. Our system doesn't allow for it if we are bold enough to stand our ground. And to Trump's credit, I believe he is listening.
Think about this. The proper management of the largest economy, the most powerful military and the most generous country in the history of the world is changing hands. Radically changing directions. Keep that in mind. This isn't an oil change. It's the rocket science end of high stakes organizational necessity. This needs to be done correctly this time. There needs to be a huge megaphone sound of the Biden administration coupled with the Pelosi era congress being flushed down the toilet with the sewer line dumping into many prison cells.
So be patient, but not too patient. It's the rare coach who takes over a team and in the first year wins the championship. It's the rare TV series that didn't have a rough first couple of episodes while directors, writers and actors found their rhythm. There will be casualties. However, with God's kind mercy, this is our best and maybe last best chance to get our country back to the largest cumulative decency of action since WW2.
Let us pray. No. Seriously. Everyday.
Today the music I've always warned you about is being directed by a new earthly conductor. May God be with him. This may, in fact, be the beginning of one of the greatest times in the history of mankind.
Very well said. Amen and happy Inaguration Day!
