What you are witnessing in Virginia is a party being held in the boiling water, I.E. they are boiling frogs. Who is holding them in the water as the temperature rises? Democrat, politically correct, left-wing standards. Reid is openly homosexual. The bulk of the Republican party in Virginia is Christian conservative. Reid’s candidacy is a fire hose on the burning embers of the enthusiasm spectrum for a much needed conservative turnout in Virginia. It is a gift to Virginia Democrats.
Virginia’s other two statewide candidates, Winsome Sears Governor and Jason Miyares Attorney General, are solid traditional conservatives. Reid’s candidacy and policy positions will more than likely gut the enthusiastic support for these two. It has already fractured their base support in a state that depends on an enthusiastic, strong showing from just about every other non Northern Virginia precinct. And the left is certainly enjoying the show.
The two traditional “Christian” candidates will now be forced to compromise for “God and country” their firm stand on family values and find a personally contorted way of supporting Reid’s run for office. It is the very definition of a frog standing in the pan of water on the stove as the heat is turned up to a boil.
The Virginia Republican party is going to lose the strong support of its base. It has already. Can Sears and Miyares still win as the “lessor of two evils” candidates when compared to the Democratic ticket? If history is any indicator, it’s not likely.
The Republican Party of Virginia is dancing to the specific music the left is playing for them. The left is laughing at them with gleeful abandon. It is a surrender of historic consequence.
