Like “mean girls” in the epic 2004 movie about clickish, nasty behavior, this Tweet/X by Karoline Leavitt has all the class and maturity of name calling across tables at an intermediate school lunch room.
There is a very, very disturbing trend on not only the conservative hard right, but conservatives and the MAGA crowd in general.
You are eating your own. Stop it. We get it. Trump is under attack. Rally around MAGA. We get it. And guess what? Most conservatives like the bulk of Trump’s policies, but certainly not all of them. Alas, the MAGA crowd has become the intolerant ones. Bow to Trump or else. Don’t agree with Trump? Run against Trump? Well, dear God, you’re, I say, you’re, you’re a dang traitor, I say, TRAITOR!! Yes. It’s come to that. This post by Leavitt personifies it, but it’s literally almost all of MAGA. Bannon. Posobiec. Kirk. Though I am a fan of the movement with qualifiers, they have entered a twisted new fissure. They have packed their silo with dissent intolerance. The leaders of MAGA are causing it. You dare voice a word of support on any social media platform for anyone other than Trump, and bam, you are jumped, en mass, by the new MAGA intolerance police. It’s a thing. And you need to cut it out. You’re using the tactic of the left to destroy yourselves from within. Hey, MAGA. You need us normal people. We think Trump has made major mistakes. His personality is unnecessarily abrasive. It’s not ok to dismiss criticism of his childish, divisive and classless comments. It’s not. It delivers fuel to the left. It weakens every down ticket candidate running on the right.
Trump, you’re ahead. Act like it. Show some class. MAGA, we get it. The left is insane. Do us a favor. Stop getting more like them. The party is bigger than Trump.
Most of us know, you salute the rank, not the man. When you demand a salute to the man or else? You’ve lost your objectivity.
MAGA. Be smarter. Recognize their music. Don’t dance to it. In this case, don’t write their music for them and sing along.
