Video at the bottom. Right away I had a problem with throwing knives at ATC personnel. I used to fly private planes in that general area many years ago. My general high regard for ATC from experience was a buffer against jumping the facts for an “explanation.”

Mil pilot called ID on the wrong plane. Was also probably higher than their standard operating ceiling for the established safety operating corridors for that very busy airspace. ATC could have been more “controlling,” but he did his job. Got traffic visual confirmation. The human side. Our ATC guy probably knew the Mil pilot and trusted his acknowledgment as savvy. It’s a smaller community than people realize.
The real odds of this happening are almost to the infinite. At their speed and closure angles it would have been an extremely hard target contact if the mil pilot was actually trying to hit the AA plane on final. Watch this video if you want facts. Listen to the audio. Pray for everyone involved.
